Meet the journeyman artists from
Joy of St Croix - Tub Repair and More
who will be on your property leading your repair or refinishing project.
JoyofStCroix.com was founded on treating our customers as we would want to be treated as customers. We asked the members of our botteghe and associated artists if they were comfortable when a complete stranger announces their arrival at the door even if the stranger is expected, like a delivery or a service call. Some of our members had appointments with service companies at which they couldn't be present so they had their neighbor or a family member meet the service person in their place. They all said it made them nervous, especially the ones who lived in busy areas like apartment buildings where it's more likely that a different stranger, unrelated to the delivery or service call, might attempt entry.
As customers we want to know the estimated time of arrival and the identity of the expected personnel. With to-day's technology and the almost universal use of smart phones this is not only reasonable but easily done. So, we've set up a small biography of each service person from Joy of St Croix that might be on the other side of your door.
It's been said that it takes 10,000 hours of performing a task correctly to achieve an "expert" level of competence - that's 5 years of 40 hours per week. Each of our apprentices must complete 5 years of study and application to become a journeyman that can lead a project on the field as a representative of Joy of St Croix. The person who shows up at your door is a professional - the amazing results that they will produce for you are the result of years of dedication and hard work. Let us introduce you to them...

Mo
Mo began at Joy of St Croix as an apprentice in 2007 and earned journeyman status in 2012. In 2015 he was awarded the duties of foreman of the Joy of St Croix field projects and has led crews on large projects from restoring community water slides to bringing 200+ multi-unit commercial building projects to final inspection on time with full documentation.

Sculpting, Sanding, and Polishing
Sculpting is one of Mo's talents that has been developed into a skill that produces beautiful results. The whole process is all about multiple layers and requires a lot of patience, which Mo has in abundance. Mo regards polishing as being the same skill as sculpting and achieves the same predictably fabulous results.

Community Involvement
Community involvement is important to the training at Botteghe Cipolla because it fosters understanding and compassion for our customers.
Outdoor Family Events
The Barnyard Flea Market is a great place to shop with the family. When the kids go off on their own you know that they're going to end up at Joy of St Croix wanting an airbrush tattoo or facepainting. For some of them no one will do but Mo...they'll wait.
Mad Man Mo's Airbrush Tats
The Par-Tee on the Green in Downtown Augusta, GA is always a blast. The kids have fun playing games and participating in the events while their grandparents are relaxing in lawn chairs on the grass of The Common. What is everyone relaxing from? It's a Dance Par-Tee, baby. With local bands, stage shows, international cuisine, and, of course, local artists and entertainers.
Joy of St Croix is proud to be a part of this annual event and Mo is our main appeal. Kids like Mo because he treats their Art requests seriously and works hard to give them a product that they're proud to show off.
Over the years, Mo has amassed a following who insist on getting their body art done exclusively by Mad Man Mo. Not just for entertainment purposes, either; sometimes a customer needs an artist to cover a tattoo or other distinguishing mark before an appointment with a Federal Judge or a job interview where the absence of cultural distractions would more likely result in a satisfactorily beneficial outcome to all parties involved.
But when it comes to just having fun, they all line up for Mad Man Mo because he really listens and can do the stuff they like. It's a real treat when someone comes up and says, "I used to come here when I was a kid". Community - that's what it's about.

Art events
Mo is a wonderful presence at Augusta's Art events, from Gallery showings to Concerts, Mo always looks his best.

Personal Pursuits
Mo has quite a musical family heritage so it was no surprise that he taught himself to play drums and guitar. He also saved the money he earned and bought his own instruments and instruction materials. It wasn't long before he was tweaking and modifying the electronics, trying new structural materials and finishes, and generally falling in love with the science and art of sound. To-day Mo is focused on teaching himself animation and sound production. The great benefit of working in a botteghe is that he has access to equipment and we have access to someone who understands what the manual means and whether its upside down or not.

Jaym-E
Jayme is detail oriented with a real interest in how things work. He began his apprenticeship with Joy of St Croix in 2010 and earned journeyman status in 2015. He has expertly worked as both an apprentice and a journeyman on Art installations, Custom Bath Design, and Commercial and Industrial new/old construction.

Spotlight on Skills
Jaym-E's love of the natural world and an attention to detail is the foundation of his incredible skill at colour matching, which is one of the primary features of the repairs done by Joy of St Croix. To learn this skill is more than memorising formulas, it involves the science of optics and refraction as well as the chemistry of interior design and fashion. Jaym-E loves to know how things work.

Special event talent
As a member of the Art studio Jayme participates in many public events. Here's Jayme at the 2019 Par-Tee on The Green modeling as a Caribbean Jumbie for Joy of St Croix's airbrush body art booth for the kids.

Personal Pursuits
Jayme often prepares breakfast and lunch meal schedules for the botteghe members. Planning and shopping for the nutritional needs of a physically and mentally demanding day is a chore, but Jayme has helped to make it an anticipated pleasure. Jayme is an incredibly innovative cook and baker who loves natural flavorings and ingredients. The added bonus to saving money on the meals you take to work is that they're so tasty - imagine coming to work to find fresh ground coffee with orange zest and ginger biscotti...yum.
