The following questions will not only assist the crew in locating the correct bathroom and bathtub quickly if they are not meeting a jobsite contact-person, but will establish the exact bathtub in the house that is covered by the warranty.

*Have you seen the refinishing project and jobsite?

Avoid costly delays caused by mistakes and omissions in ordering refinishing projects.
Mistakes and omissions in the ordering process can result in costly delays, e.g., rescheduling because of no access to the property or time in the schedule to obtain authorisation to revise the invoice or perform the revised project. Maybe there's some additional damage that you are not aware of or are responsible for.
All of these questions will have to be answered eventually so the time you take today will avoid costly delays tomorrow.

*Has your clawfoot bathtub been previously painted?

two bathtubs with peeling paint that need to be removed prior to refinishing the finish needs to be stripped prior to refinishing

Previously applied finishes need to be stripped off prior to be refinished.

*What is the bathub made of?

Is the bathtub's topcoat made of acrylic, gelcoat on fiberglass, or porcelain on steel? What's the bathtub made of?

The purpose of this website and the order form is to avoid costly delays and charges caused by mistakes and omissions in the ordering process.
We respect your position - You're not sure what the unit is made of: Maybe because it's never occurred to you that they are made of different materials, or that some materials can be stripped while others can't, or you may not even be in the same State as the house with the bathtub to be refinished.
Please respect our position as well: we have limited time, labor, and resources - and when they're lost they can never be recovered.
Stripping takes a full day, so both you and we need to schedule three full days...one for the stripping and two for the refinishing.
    Please, take your time.

If the refinishing crew finds that the unit is a previously refinished acrylic or gelcoat unit the project will be cancelled and subject to cancellation fees (trip fee plus materials purchased expressly for the project, e.g., custom colors, hardware, etc.) and may not be refunded for up to 90 days

Description

Limited Warranty for Joy of St. Croix’s Tub Repair & More, repair / refinishing services – effective for 2018

What to do following a refinishing project:
The refinishing project in your home was not made in a remote studio or manufacturing plant, purchased off the shelf, and installed brand new in your home – your home was the studio. What normally takes one or two weeks in the studio was compressed into a couple of days in your home without the usual inspections that can only take place after the project is done. In order for the project to perform to its fullest potential, you are responsible for being that inspector and communicating any concerns with Joy of St Croix. The caulking may shrink and need an adjustment, you may find a fault in the finish, a piece of tape that was not removed or a bit of overspray on a tile; do not take care of these issues yourself or you may harm the uncured finish, use an incompatible chemical, or otherwise void your warranty. You have hired a professional service company to perform a professional service – you will not insult us or inconvenience us by assisting us in providing you with the high quality product that you paid for. Remember, we want you to come back to us to buy other products and services, so if you have a concern please send an email to warranty@joyofstcroix.com or contact@joyofstcroix.

What Does This Warranty Cover?
This limited warranty covers defects in the materials or workmanship of repairs or refinishing done to bathtubs and bath related surfaces that result in blistering, peeling, cracking or other failure of adhesion of the refinishing materials.

What Does This Warranty Not Cover?
This limited warranty does not cover man-made damage or negligence on the part of the user.
For example:
– chips or nicks due to impact,
– scratches, e.g., from improper cleaning methods or regular wear and tear,
– cuts or gouges, e.g., from washing an animal
– stains and discolorations, e.g., from bleaches, dyes or acids, perfumes, or solvents
– problems caused by leaky plumbing or rust damage.
– movement of the substructure resulting in cracks or splits in the repaired / refinished surface
– caulking degradation
– standing water for extended periods of time
– damage to plumbing or fixtures
– damage to property by failure of repair
– damage caused by use of bathmats
– damage from any activity or use that is not normal or an intended use of the bathtub or shower as recommended by the original manufacturer
– structural problems
– failure of repair due to further degradation of bath unit

What Must You Do to Keep the Warranty in Effect?
The newly refinished area needs 24 HOURS to cure. Keep it free from water during this time.
A soft nylon loofah should be used for cleaning: we recommend a pine cleanser.
DO NOT use abrasive sponge pads, steel wool, wire brushes, or metal scrapers.
DO NOT use high alkaline or strong acid cleaners.
DO NOT use for water storage or allow standing water for extended periods of time.
DO NOT allow the surface to come in contact with acidic substances like lemon, lime or other fruit juices, vinegars, etc. This may cause surfaces to discolor.
DO NOT use abrasive cleaners such as Clorox® or Comet®. Prolonged exposure to bleach will cause discoloration.
DO NOT use products that contain the following chemical ingredients: hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, pumice (abrasive).
DO NOT bathe dogs or animals with claws that can damage the surface.
NO Rubber Bath Mats! Bathmats containing suction cups will destroy the finish.
DO NOT ignore the caulking

Caulking The importance of maintaining the caulking cannot be over-stressed; water will attack the edge of the paint line (where it stops) and work it’s way underneath. Clean your caulking the same way you clean the bathtub, and address cracks or gaps without procrastinating.

Stains • Rust • Sharp Objects
Destruction of the finish may occur through improper use of acid-bearing compounds like drain openers and tile grout cleaners. Products containing bleach, oils, hair dyes, etc., may stain or mar the finish. Never hang garments that could bleed stains on the bathtub. Do not wash animals in the resurfaced tub or sink. Avoid storing objects directly on the surface, especially metal cans, which may form rust stains.
Leaky Faucets Protect the finish against the eroding action of dripping water, which may cause the finish to crack or mar prematurely.

What is the Period of Coverage?
One year – You must retain the order number to verify date and location of repair

What Will We Do to Correct Problems?
Should our material or workmanship prove faulty during the warranty period, we will correct these faults at no additional cost to the user. We will complete this work in a reasonable time, usually within 30 days or less. If work is needed that is outside of the warranty, a 25% discount off of the online price will be offered. www.joyofstcroix.com/shop

What Will We Not Do?
PLUMBING: Our technicians are not plumbers. They are not licensed, equipped, trained or authorized to do plumbing. The only fixtures we will attempt are the overflow and the drain shoe, but we do not guarantee a successful drain shoe removal; old drains shoes and pipes can be rusted or degraded and can break during removal.- sometimes a plumber has to be called out if the drain hasn’t been replaced in over five years.

How Do You Get Service?
Warranty service and general maintenance questions can be submitted to warranty@joyofstcroix.com or contact@joyofcroix.com

How Does State Law Relate to This Warranty?
This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
